Does Tesco have shops in Europe? I.e. Poland, Romania, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Holland, Greece, Etc, etc?
I have no idea, but it seems to me that they were more than a little silly trying to set up shop in America or Japan. Think of the implications. America have their own superstores. (We had none here before Asda) The U.S.A. has all of the Americas to trade with from the top of Canada to the bottom of Chile, and all points between. They also have all of Australasia and Pacific nations. Including China.
America did not snub Tesco. They simply scratched their heads in wonder at the stupid attempt to go there where they were surplus to requirement.
If Europe is to be a success ,companies like Tesco must first employ people willing to learn the languages of Europe, or managers for training from those countries, and then set up shop in other European nations. Slowly. If David Cameron wants to leave Europe, he is asking too much of America to take it’s place. ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed,’ but usually recognised as such.
