By-Pass For The Highland Borough Of Nairn:
It’s been one of my best jokes for years. ‘Nairn show is over, there will be pseudo road works in Nairn to hijack passing trade.’
Very effective. With Elgin it’s at Christmas.
On a bus to, and another from Inverness, yesterday. Twenty minute delay going, and much longer returning. (I think I’m the only one on the bus who didn’t wet myself? Plan your journey, and allow for people like the Nairns)
No visible signs of road improvements being made. Never is.
The fact that local businesses move heaven and earth to prevent by-passes being built, such as in Elgin, should tell us something. As soon as a route is proposed they buy up the land and build over it.
Another interesting point. I was sitting on the bus noting the number of tradesmen, delivery drivers, Company Rep’s who were losing money as a result. At rough guesstimate I’d say a minimum £2 million pounds was lost to trade and industry yesterday alone.
Just consider what the likes of Asda / Tesco turn over in a day. Toward a million each. Now note that other companies collectively must expect to make money also, and ,,,,,,,,
Could they sue Nairn, Elgin, and thereby force by-passes?
This will be another nail in my coffin, but there are so many already , , , , ,
